Free Maracatu Drumming Workshop featuring Stephanie Pawula
Young Yeats and the Yeats Society will be hosting a free Maracatu Drumming Workshop, featuring; Stephanie Pawula, taking place in the Yeats Memorial Building on February 22nd, 2-4pm.
Maracatu is a traditional Afro-Brazilian performance genre. It is typically performed as carnival pieces and is similar in style to Samba drumming. Stephanie Pawula is a musician, with an impressive repertoire. She is known for performing with such groups as MASS, Itchy Feet and Maracatu drumming group iLHA BRiLHANTE. After this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to perform at Young Yeats’ Open mic session, alongside iLHA BRiLHANTE on March 1st at the Yeats Memorial Building. This will be the first of many music workshops hosted by Young Yeats in 2014, and promises to be very worthwhile and entertaining.
Admission is free and all ages welcome.
